With Special Guests: Michael McConkey and Sister Shirley Sydnor
Join us on Thursday for "Sound Unwound" when Michael McConkey, performs songs from his CD, "Just What Would I Do Without You". He'll also be discussing the amazing world of Edible Landscaping, a profession that involves a variety of beautiful plants, all of which are absolutely delicious as well.
Then get ready for a real treat when Sister Shirley Sydnor performs Traditional Gospel. In addition to being a singer with over forty years experience singing and lecturing about Gospel in America and Canada, she has built a following in Austria, England, France, Hungary and Switzerland and will be touring Austria again in July and August.
Sister Shirley's roots originated with New Orleans's Jazz Gospel, along with the music of Rosetta Tharpe, Ernestine Washington and the Buck Johnson Jazz Band, circa 1940's. She performs the music of Blind Willie McTell and Rev. Gary Davis along with a bottleneck style guitar (J. C. Veve from Hokum Jazz) and harmonica player (Steve Levine from The Resonators).
"I sing the music you would hear at any Black Pentecostal Church in Baltimore, Harlem or any place in the U. S. This is the clapping, foot stumping music that many Americans and Europeans love." said the smiling Sister Shirley during our interview.
So join us for Sound Unwound, with our host Doug Goodhill, Snooze and the Unwound Crew, as we open up the chat room, dust off that guitar, and turn on the microphones here in the Hober Studios for... a live performance of "Sound Unwound".
Doug Goodhill, your host will be in the studio to interview our guests, toss out a trivia question, and open up our inter-active listener chat line to answer any fan's E-mail.
