Hober statistics soars as more listeners tune in.
Hober Thinking Radio announces phenomenal growth through '99, sees broadband Internet-only music as the break out app for the first part of the new millenium.
TAKOMA PARK, MD - Global internet broadcasts of music, or Internet "radio" has arrived. While online television has many more years of growing pains to work through to compete with it's predecessor, it is possible right now to listen to music that sounds as good ad FM radio using an Internet connected home computer.
Hober Thinking Radio has been growing in leaps and bounds as the eager new listeners come searching for the stuff that their new DSL line or Cable modem can do. Most are surprised at the quality and steadiness of the Hober broadcasts on their RealPlayer.
"They come, they stay a long time, and they keep coming back", says gregor markowitz, producer of Hober Thinking Radio. "We've grown over 1000% this year, the average listener time is over a hour, and most of the listeners are regulars. I've heard of 'sticky' web sites, but Hober is crazy glue. Most webmasters only dream about being connected directly to so many for so long.
The reason for the large gains in market share are many. One is, of course, the overall listen-ability of the station. The playlist is drawn from the core of the experience of hand-made music. The sound is warm and inviting. The format is cool and doesn't demand constant attention. And the audience is worldwide. With such a large potential audience, no one knows yet just how big an internet station could grow.
"That's what makes this project so exciting", interjects markowitz. "In regular radio, we were always fighting for shares of the known market. Here we're creating the market in front of us as we grow. Nobody exactly knows what an Internet station should sound like, or what it should look like. All we know is that you can't really talk about the time, weather or the traffic when your audience is spread in all corners of the planet. And we know it's going to get a whole lot bigger."
