Hober Thinking Radio announces major expansion of broadcasting facilities to handle large growing numbers of listeners.

TAKOMA PARK, MD -- Hober.com today began contracted use of a T3 Internet connection for the organization's ongoing 24/7 Internet music broadcasts. A T3 Internet pipe runs at the speed of 45 million bits of data per second, a capacity that will allow virtually unlimited growth of the station through year 2000.

Growth chartHober Thinking Radio, located in Takoma Park, Maryland, home of the famous Takoma Park Folk Festival, broadcasts a full gamut of hand-played folk-rooted musical styles over the internet, using Real Network's Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language (SMIL). Created by gregor markowitz, Seti Smith and Carlos Smith, Hober Thinking Radio plans to broadcast from a geodesic dome just outside Washington DC.

"Most of our listeners have simply not heard of the station", points out markowitz, "and we aim to help them. We have a broad and unique niche that hasn't been exploited much by the marketers. Hober offers listeners who prefer more natural music the power of knowing that they are not alone in a world of over-produced computerized and amplified productions. And when they find us, they're ecstatic, because they've known somewhere deep inside that a station like Hober was possible - but had not yet found it."

Other additions include dual 100baseT network switching a high speed Cisco router and new rack mount servers. The station formerly used a conventional T1 circuit, which had almost become saturated by unexpectedly large growth of Hober Thinking Radio Listeners. Since large amounts of bandwidth come cheaper, the move has reduced the bandwidth price per listener to one-fourth the prior rate the station had to pay. "The spreadsheets look a lot better today", says gregor markowitz, the producer of Hober.

The station is available on the World Wide Web from the Hober Thinking Radio Web site, found at http://www.Hober.com.
